The annual meeting 2013  of the CETAF subgroup ISTC (Information Sciences and Technologies Committee) was held at the Royal Museum for Central Africa, Tervuren, Belgium the 27th and 28th of February 2013.

The main topic of the meeting was Services and Interoperability. We have seen over the last years that European Institutions have developed a quite interesting set of biodiversity-related services ranging from data services (names, taxa, specimens, etc.) to visualization and computation services.

Topics/questions discussed at  the meeting were for example :

  •  Introduction to services implemented by CETAF member institutions (taxonomic, geo-services, computational, data cleaning, etc.).
  •  Integrating services into workflows.
  • How open are our services? What if people start to use our services? Do we have sufficient resources? Will we need access control?
  • How can we ensure that data providers exposing their data through services get the proper credit?
  • New services we would like to have

In total the committee has 51 followers of which 36 attended the meeting.

In the files hereunder the agenda, the list of participants and the minutes can be found. A link to the presentations when  available is also provided here .
